Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, is set to visit Jharkhand from July 31 to August 1, covering Deoghar, Ranchi, and Dhanbad during her two-day tour. In preparation, a high-level review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Smt. Alka Tiwari to ensure seamless coordination and flawless execution of all arrangements.
President Murmu will attend the first convocation ceremony of AIIMS Deoghar and also grace the convocation of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. Given the scale of the events and the religious significance of Deoghar during Sawan, special attention has been given to logistics and crowd management.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary emphasized meticulous planning and timely execution of every arrangement, from arrival to departure. She stressed that the sacred Kanwariya route must remain unaffected, and a separate convoy route has been finalized for the President’s transit from the airport to AIIMS in Deoghar.
Notably, the President’s earlier visit scheduled for June was postponed. Learning from those preparations, Smt. Tiwari reiterated that all previous instructions would remain valid and must be implemented effectively this time.
Key decisions and responsibilities:
Commerce Tax Secretary Amitabh Kaushal and IG Akhilesh Kumar Jha will serve as nodal officers for on-ground coordination.
Information & Public Relations Department will manage public address systems.
Deputy Commissioners of Deoghar, Ranchi, and Dhanbad shared detailed protocol blueprints for the President’s events.
Comprehensive protocols were outlined for:
Stage setup designs
Red carpet and bouquet presentation
National anthem arrangements
Carcade & outrider management
Photographer coordination with open jeeps
Baggage vans and support staff
Umbrella, water, and restroom arrangements
Medical and fire safety measures
Names of dignitaries addressing the gathering
Furthermore, the accommodation and meals for the President’s entourage, as well as venue-level medical support and sanitation, were discussed in detail. The Chief Secretary directed all departments to act in synergy and ensure the President’s visit remains memorable and smooth.
Jharkhand is now on high alert and full gear as it awaits the honour of welcoming the first citizen of India.
