With President Droupadi Murmu scheduled to visit Dhanbad on August 1, security preparations in the district have reached their final stage. To assess the arrangements, IG of Bokaro Zone, Kranti Kumar Garideshi, arrived at the district police headquarters on Tuesday, where he was welcomed by SSP Prabhat Kumar.
During a high-level meeting with senior police officials, the IG reviewed the entire security blueprint for the President’s visit. He emphasized close monitoring of the airport, carcade route, IIT-ISM campus, and the accommodation site. Strict instructions were issued to sanitize the entire route from the airport to the event venue.
A 300-meter perimeter around the airport and IIT-ISM will undergo community census and identity verification. Residents, shops, offices, and private establishments located within a 50-meter radius on both sides of the route—especially from the airport to City Centre via Randhir Verma Chowk—will be identified, and necessary security steps will be enforced.
The district will be sealed at three levels, including border checkpoints with neighboring districts like West Bengal. Entry points to the city will remain under tight surveillance. Patrolling and checks have been intensified at railway stations, bus stands, hotels, and lodges, with detailed identity verifications underway.
No one without valid ID will be allowed entry near the venue. Metal detectors and X-ray scanners will be deployed at the airport and event locations, with all visitors subject to thorough screening. All link roads along the main carcade route—from Dhanbad Airport through Dhania, City Centre, Lubi Circular Road, and Randhir Verma Chowk to IIT-ISM—will be sealed off, and security personnel will be posted at each point.
Snipers and police teams will also be deployed on rooftops of major buildings along the convoy path, reinforcing the multi-layered security grid for the VVIP visit.
