New Delhi, 31 July 2025 — Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Shri Hemant Soren, met with a high-level World Bank delegation led by India Country Director Mr. Auguste Tano Kouame at the New Jharkhand Bhavan in New Delhi.
During the interaction, the World Bank team lauded the Chief Minister’s efforts in steering Jharkhand towards a path of sustainable and inclusive economic development. Special mention was made of the flagship Maiya Samman Yojana, which focuses on uplifting rural families, especially women-led households.
Chief Minister Soren shared the Jharkhand government's long-term vision to strengthen the rural economy through a strategic focus on natural resource management, renewable energy, tourism, manufacturing, agriculture, and self-entrepreneurship. He emphasized that these sectors hold immense potential to create livelihoods and reduce poverty.
Mr. Kouame and the World Bank team shared insights from their work across India and expressed interest in collaborating closely with the Jharkhand government in areas of programme design, implementation frameworks, and development planning aimed at maximizing impact for the state's population.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to hold a joint workshop in Ranchi, where specific collaboration areas will be discussed to pave the way for impactful partnerships.
