Thanks to the proactive efforts of the Jharkhand government, the mortal remains of Mr. Rameshwar Mahato, a migrant worker from Hazaribagh district who passed away in Kuwait, have been successfully repatriated to India.
On Thursday, 31 July, the body arrived at Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi at 3:45 PM. The district administration arranged an ambulance to transport the mortal remains to the deceased’s native village in Hazaribagh district.
Mr. Mahato, a resident of Bandkharo village in Vishnugarh block, Hazaribagh, had been working in Kuwait for the past 12 years with M/s IMCO Engineering & Construction Company. He died suddenly on 15 June 2025 due to cardiac and respiratory arrest.
His wife, Mrs. Pramila Devi, had submitted a formal request to the State Migrant Control Room, Ranchi on 19 June 2025, seeking assistance to bring her husband's body back to Jharkhand. The department of Labour, Employment, Training, and Skill Development promptly initiated coordination with the Indian Embassy in Kuwait and the Protector of Emigrants, Ranchi.
Initially, the family declined to receive the body until the final settlement from the employer was completed, which caused delays. After continued dialogue, the Deputy Commissioner of Hazaribagh secured the family's consent on 27 July 2025, following which a formal request was sent to the Indian Embassy.
On 28 July, the employing company began the necessary formalities. The body was flown back to India on 31 July and received at the Ranchi airport by Mr. Kishore Mahato (son of the deceased) and Mr. Akhilesh Kumar, Block Development Officer of Vishnugarh, Hazaribagh. The district administration ensured ambulance transport to the native village for the
final rites.
