Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday, triggering renewed speculation over the ₹25,000 crore Tajpur Port project. The proposed port is seen as a strategic and potentially transformative infrastructure project for eastern India’s logistics and trade connectivity.
The West Bengal government recently decided to scrap its four-year-old partnership with the Adani Group for the project and has issued a fresh tender. While both the state government and the Adani Group have remained tight-lipped about the details of the meeting, sources suggest that the discussions took place in a positive environment, with investment-related matters likely on the agenda. Adani Group sources had earlier indicated the company’s continued interest in the Tajpur Port project.
