Gaya: Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan and Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar inspected the Gaya Bridge underpass on Monday evening. During the visit, they discussed with the Executive Engineer of the Road Construction Department the reasons for the frequent damage to the underpass road.
It was informed that water from nearby drains seeps into the underpass, causing potholes on the road. This slows down vehicular movement, often leading to long traffic jams on both sides.
For immediate relief, the officials directed the Municipal Corporation to clean the drains and ordered the RCD to level the road and place iron plates. They also instructed that high-strength hexagonal blocks, resistant to water damage, be laboratory-tested before installation.
Additional directives included reducing the area of Shramik Chowk, removing encroachments, designating parking for auto-rickshaws, and constructing proper drainage. The DC assured that the road issue would be permanently resolved during the upcoming underpass widening project.
