In a significant development, the Supreme Court modified its earlier August 11 order, directing that stray dogs be released back to the locations they were picked up from, after sterilisation and immunisation.
The Court further ruled:
🔹 MCD must build designated feeding spaces.
🔹 No feeding will be allowed on public streets.
🔹 No relocation of stray dogs will take place.
Reacting to the verdict, advocate and petitioner Nanita Sharma said – “It’s a very balanced judgment. The Court has included all states in it. It’s a beautiful order for dog lovers. The feeding space provision is also good.”
The order is being seen as a balanced step between animal welfare and public safety.
