Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi visited Katihar on Friday as part of his “Voter Rights Yatra.” During the visit, he met hundreds of makhana farmers and heard their grievances.
The farmers highlighted key concerns including rising cultivation costs, lack of Minimum Support Price (MSP), and poor returns in the market. They also pointed out that despite the hard labor involved in makhana farming, government support has remained inadequate.
Rahul Gandhi assured the farmers that their issues will be raised strongly in Parliament and before the government. He said, “Farmers are the backbone of the nation, and their neglect cannot be tolerated.”
The Voter Rights Yatra, now on its seventh day, reached Katihar and will continue towards Purnia and Araria districts in Bihar. The journey aims to connect directly with people and address their concerns
