Hyderabad | Reacting to the Supreme Court’s order on the Waqf Amendment Act, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, “The SC has not completely stayed the provision that a person must be a practising Muslim for five years... There is no law in India that prevents a person of one religion from donating to another religion. According to Article 300 of the Constitution, I can give my property to anyone I want. Then why has such a provision been imposed only on the followers of Islam? BJP should release data on who donated property to the Waqf after conversion. The provision related to the collector’s inquiry has been stayed, but the collector still retains the power to conduct a survey.”
