Seraikela-Kharsawan | Jharkhand : Panic has spread across the Daruda area of Kukru block in Seraikela-Kharsawan district after nearly a dozen wild elephants camped close to human settlements. The situation has triggered fear among villagers, forcing them to alter their daily travel routes.
According to locals, two elephants were spotted roaming near the roadside, prompting people to avoid the Adardih–Milan Chowk main road. Commuters are now using alternative routes to ensure safety.
The elephant herd has also damaged standing crops, adding to the distress of farmers. Residents claim that the Chandil Range under the Seraikela Forest Division has remained a hotspot for elephant movement and destruction for the past two decades, yet a permanent solution is still lacking.
Villagers have urged the Forest Department to take immediate action and drive the elephants back into the forest areas away from villages to prevent any untoward incident.
