Frazerganj : Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Station Frazerganj successfully intercepted an Indian fishing boat, IFB Laxminarayan, involved in smuggling betel nuts from Bangladesh to India. Acting on intelligence inputs, an ICG boarding team located the abandoned vessel at sea and conducted a thorough search.
During rummaging, officials recovered 52 bags of betel nuts weighing 50 kg each, amounting to a total seizure of 2,600 kg. The vessel was escorted to Frazerganj and berthed at Benfish Fishing Jetty. The seized boat and contraband were handed over to the Coastal Police Station, Frazerganj, for further legal proceedings.
The operation highlights ICG’s continued efforts to curb cross-border smuggling and strengthen coastal security.
