Labour Law Compliance in Focus: Assistant Labour Commissioner Meets Transporters in Dhanbad
A key meeting was held today under the leadership of Assistant Labour Commissioner Shri Praveen Kumar at the Labour Department office in Dhanbad. The session brought together bus owners and transport operators from across the district to discuss compliance with labour laws, especially in light of the Supreme Court's recent directives.
The meeting emphasized adherence to the Motor Transport Workers Act, 1961, which mandates that drivers, helpers, and other staff should not be made to work more than 8 hours per day.
🔍 Key Directives Issued:
▪️ Wages must be paid by the 7th of every month, without delay, in accordance with the Payment of Wages Act, 1936
▪️ Salary disbursement must be done via bank accounts to ensure transparency
▪️ Employment of minors is strictly prohibited in motor transport operations
▪️ Full cooperation was sought from all transport business owners to uphold workers' rights and legal standards
