◆ Deputy Commissioner directs Circle Officers to identify and remove encroachments from water bodies based on original land maps
Dhanbad, July 14, 2025 – A task force meeting was held today in the conference hall of the Collectorate under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Shri Aditya Ranjan, focusing on the preservation of water bodies, prevention of encroachments, and pollution control.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed detailed reports from all Circle Officers regarding ponds, rivers, and other water sources in their respective areas. He also inquired about encroachments on government lands and water bodies. The Jharia Circle Officer informed that a pond located in the BCCL area has been encroached upon, and a notice has already been issued to BCCL. Action is also pending to remove encroachments from Raja Talab.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that encroachments on ponds, whether located on government or private land, are illegal and will invite strict action. He reiterated that preserving water bodies and public land is among the top priorities of the state government and that no negligence will be tolerated.
He instructed officials to ensure deepening of ponds where water retention capacity has reduced. Additionally, ponds that require renovation should be listed and the information shared with the district administration for necessary action.
Present at the meeting were Municipal Commissioner Shri Ravi Raj Sharma, Sub-Divisional Officer Shri Rajesh Kumar, Circle Officers of various blocks, and City Manager Shri Amandeep Kumar.
