BCCL Empowers Women in Health and Technology Sectors
Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd, has taken a bold step toward gender equality by launching two major women-led initiatives in Dhanbad.
For the first time, the Koyla Nagar Hospital operated a full work shift entirely managed by women doctors, nurses, and support staff — a landmark move in public sector healthcare. The shift was inaugurated by CMD Mr. Samiran Dutta, joined by senior female officers Dr. Poonam Dubey and Dr. Vandana Thakur.
On the same day, BCCL also inaugurated a technical repair center for LED and solar devices, operated exclusively by trained female technicians. This workshop marks a significant move toward empowering women in core engineering roles traditionally held by men.
CMD Dutta stated, “Empowerment means trusting women with leadership in every space — from care to core operations.”
These initiatives showcase BCCL’s inclusive approach to development and its commitment to quality, with Central Hospital Dhanbad recently earning dual ISO certifications for quality and workplace safety.
