Curfew Extended in Sheikh Hasina’s Hometown Gopalganj After Deadly Clashes; 3-Hour Relaxation Today

Dhaka, Bangladesh: The interim government of Bangladesh has extended the ongoing curfew in Gopalganj, the home district of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, until further notice following violent clashes on Wednesday that left 4 people dead and over 50 injured.

Authorities have announced a 3-hour relaxation in the curfew today from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM to allow residents to access essential goods and services.

Tensions escalated on Wednesday when clashes broke out between protesters and security forces, resulting in fatalities and widespread injuries. The cause of the unrest is still under investigation.

Security forces remain deployed throughout the district, and internet services have reportedly been disrupted in several areas.

The government has urged the public to remain calm, avoid rumors, and cooperate with law enforcement as efforts continue to restore normalcy in the region.
