In a significant move towards ensuring transparency and justice in land acquisition processes, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Shri Aditya Ranjan held a high-level meeting today with Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) officials to address various land-related issues, including coal mining leases and acquisition matters.
During the discussion, the DC directed BCCL to formulate a uniform compensation policy across all its operational areas. He emphasized that such a policy would enable landowners (raiyats) to clearly understand the required documentation and the compensation they are entitled to receive. The initiative is expected to bring clarity, accountability, and transparency in ongoing and future land acquisition processes.
“Uniformity in compensation will empower raiyats with information and ensure that they receive what is rightfully theirs. It will also streamline acquisition procedures and reduce disputes,” said the DC.
The meeting also focused on related issues like the mutation of acquired land, timely updates in Register-II, and resolution of other administrative concerns.
Among those present were Divisional Forest Officer Shri Vikas Paliwal, Additional Collector Shri Vinod Kumar, Sub-Divisional Officer Shri Rajesh Kumar, District Land Acquisition Officer Shri Ram Narayan Khalkho, IT Manager Shri Rupesh Kumar Mishra, and senior officials from BCCL including the General Manager (Estate), all Regional General Managers, the GM of Eastern Coalfields Limited (Mugma), and revenue officials from all circles.
This directive marks a progressive step towards equitable land rights and smoother coordination between local administration and coal companies in the Dhanbad
